MAGA has made it toxic to merely mention the “I” word – “Impeachment.” They have so often and so viciously condemned the prior Impeachments of Orange Julius (“O.J.”) that suggesting we go through it again will necessarily be greeted with guffaws. Well, fuck them. It is time to again consider Impeachment and as a real and necessary alternative, and the guffaws be damned.
There are two avenues of Impeachment now that are worthwhile thinking about. One is the impeachment of some of the most horrendous of O.J.’s appointments. The second would be the impeachment of O.J. himself. Each has its own advantages and its own merits.
Regarding the appointments, for example, isn’t it entirely reasonable to try to impeach such buffoons as RFK, Jr. and Tom Homan? Everyone knows RFK, Jr. and his lethal medical advice. He is literally killing people. Homan is the clown who is the head of ICE. He is the bullethead bullet brain who is leading the charge of masked marauders as they gobble up people off the street and sent them to faraway prisons.
You can ask what good such impeachments would do since the Republicans would never let them go forward. That would be a good question, but here’s the answer. It would make each of the Repulsive Republicans (a redundancy) personally vote in support of the killer Health Secretary and the Deportation Despot. Get them on record, all of them, get them to actually say that they favor rampant disease and oppressive injustice. Brand them for what they are. Great campaign fodder, that stuff.
Regarding the impeachment of O.J. himself, the argument for the practicality of this takes a somewhat different track. What stands in the way is, of course, the Republican opposition to it. But why are the Republicans so opposed? Isn’t it fear? Isn’t it a fear that the MAGA machine will trample over them if they should support such a thing? Of course it is. And that fear is well founded. O.J. and his minions will withhold their PAC money from them; will call them names and criticize them on “Truth” Social; and will “Comey” them – accuse them of “Trumped” up criminal charges threatening to take away their liberty.
What the Republicans fail to understand (among so many other things) is that these fears of O.J. are the result of the power that they have given him. They fail to understand that if they take away that power their fears will disappear. He won’t be able to withhold his PAC money if he can’t raise any. He won’t be able to slander them if he has no platform from which to do it. And he won’t be able to jail them if he has no puppet Justice Department to follow his orders. So, impeach him. Get rid of him, you Republicans, and your problems will go away with him.
We should not be afraid of the “I” word. At this point, there is another “I” word that describes it – “Indispensable.”
