This is the season when people begin to anxiously await word from on high. When I say, “on high,” I do not mean it in the religious sense of the season. I talk, instead, about the force that exerts a more immediate impact on our lives, the college admissions office. Those high school seniors who … Continue reading An Immodest Proposal (Again)

Our President is Officially Nuts
The most important quality that a President of the United States should have is judgment. As defined by the Oxford Dictionary, “judgment” is “the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions.” When we choose a President, we cannot know what issues will arise to confront that person during their term. On Election … Continue reading Our President is Officially Nuts
The Worst and the Dumbest
David Halberstam wrote the book, “The Best and the Brightest.” It described how even the most brilliant of people while acting in good faith, can make terrible mistakes as Presidential advisers. The most powerful office in the world is confronted with very tough decisions. It ain’t easy. It takes intelligence and experience and wisdom, and, … Continue reading The Worst and the Dumbest
An Allegory?
Once upon a time there was a village. It was called, “Voters Village.” The citizens of Voters Village were very regular people. Three of those people found themselves one chilly Saturday night sitting at their favorite spot – The Red White and Blue Tavern. One was Richie. He and his family had been farming the … Continue reading An Allegory?

No Kings
This is being written the night before the “No Kings” demonstration. As if on cue, our President today showed us why our demonstration tomorrow is so appropriate. Today, our President commuted the sentence of George Santos. Our president showed mercy on a despicable person who the President agrees committed fraud over and over again. But … Continue reading No Kings
The “I” Word
MAGA has made it toxic to merely mention the “I” word – “Impeachment.” They have so often and so viciously condemned the prior Impeachments of Orange Julius (“O.J.”) that suggesting we go through it again will necessarily be greeted with guffaws. Well, fuck them. It is time to again consider Impeachment and as a real … Continue reading The “I” Word
Baseball Tonight
What is wrong with me? For anyone who knows me that is a question that would take days to answer (my wife would say, “years”). Let me re-phrase it. What is wrong with me that at the age of 76, soon 77, I am prepared to go through an anxiety ridden experience this evening because … Continue reading Baseball Tonight
Charlie Kirk – Two Things Can Be True at the Same Time
Two things can be true at the same time. One truth is that the killing of Charlie Kirk is a terribly tragic event. The killing of any person is a terribly tragic event. The second truth, though, which should not be buried with Mr. Kirk, is that he held and effectively promoted socially poisonous points … Continue reading Charlie Kirk – Two Things Can Be True at the Same Time
