The most important quality that a President of the United States should have is judgment. As defined by the Oxford Dictionary, “judgment” is “the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions.”
When we choose a President, we cannot know what issues will arise to confront that person during their term. On Election Day, the world has one set of problems. Later in that term, the world will have new and different ones. All we can hope is that the person in charge of handling those new problems will engage in considered decision-making and come to sensible conclusions.
Why anyone would need more proof that our President is incapable of confronting problems that way, I do not know. But, if anyone did, that proof came today.
In the wake of the heartbreaking murder of Rob Reiner and his wife, our President issued a public statement of unfathomable bad judgment. He claimed that the couple passed away “reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as “TDS.”
On how many levels is this statement both an outrage and a perfect example of the Trumpian mind? That it lacks any level of compassion or humanity is self-evident. The Trumpian mind has no place in it for those emotions. That it has no basis in fact needs no explanation. The Trumpian mind never needs facts. And that it makes the tragedy not about the victims but about The Man himself is transparent. In the Trumpian mind, everything is about The Man himself.
Whether a President should post such things is not a matter subject to political debate. Any person who does that, let alone a President, is, as the President himself likes to call others, “a sick person.” This is madness. This is Twenty-Fifth Amendment stuff.
Come on, people, especially you people in Congress. How long are you going to let this lunatic be the one we depend on to make the judgments that determine our fates? How long will you trust this person to keep his finger on the button?
Help!
He showed us who he is a long time ago. It’s not surprising that he shows a total lack of empathy or decency. I can’t imagine having to endure him for 3 more years. My hope is that Democrats take the House and Senate in the mid terms. Then they can impeach and convict him.
