Sole Authority

There are an infinite number of reasons to detest Orange Julius (“O.J.”), let alone vote for him. One of them needs a particular emphasis that doesn’t seem to be getting enough attention. It’s that under presently applicable, official military procedures, only the President has the “sole authority” to launch of nuclear weapons. Anywhere. Anytime. He or she need not consult with anyone. Nobody. Sole authority. It’s all up to the Prez.

I raise this for obvious reasons. This procedure has been in place through many Administrations, and, so far, we’re still here. But the process has never run up against O.J. I say that fully recognizing that O.J. once was that sole authority. But that was Trump 1.0. If you’ve had the stomach to listen to this lunatic lately, it is evidently clear that, if possible, he is significantly way more insane than he was the first time around.

Remember the fond old days of 2016 when O.J. first gained the title? What was the worst thing he’d said? “Grab ‘em by the pussy?” C’mon. I mean that was bad, but Little League compared to what he’s spouting out now. Here are just a small slice of his nonsensical ramblings: invoking “the late great Hannibal Lecter;” claiming that if Jesus came down and counted the votes, he would carry California; and declaring that he would rather die by electrocution than by being eaten by a shark.

These are all unprompted assertions. They came directly out of his twisted mind, a mind that cannot hold a single thought together for more than a few seconds.

Orange Julius 2.0 now speaks in one of two ways – either totally mindless or massively angry. He is constantly praising the authoritarian dictator of Hungary, Victor Orban, while not even getting right which country Orban rules. And when he’s not spouting ignorant nonsense, he is continuing to claim that he won the last election, that he is going to pardon the Insurrectionists, and that he’s going to prosecute those who had the gall to indict and convict him.

Actions triggered by mindlessness and anger coming out of a twisted mind are not the kinds of actions that I would like to see undertaken by the person who has the “sole authority” to wipe out all living things.

But maybe that’s just me.
