I am fervently hoping that Kamala Harris will trounce Dangerous Donald. The problem is that it’s hard to imagine.
In my world, and it’s a pretty heterogenous world, until this past Sunday, Kamala Harris was a joke. During the Biden Presidency, the common refrain was that Joe better not die because then we’ll be saddled with Kamala. And all during the campaign I have frequently heard people who were afraid to vote for Joe for the same reason. She was disregarded as a lightweight with a cackling, obnoxious laugh.
Then on Sunday Joe bowed out, Kamala entered stage left and everything changed. Suddenly Kamala was the only choice. Democrats climbed all over themselves trying to be among the first to shout her praises and support her candidacy. Political pundits explained why Kamala had been the best of the bunch all along.
I sincerely hope that this change of heart is based on reality. I would hate to think that it is based only on the same Party loyalty that prevented the Democrats from much sooner taking the obvious step of pushing Joe aside. The country – hell, the world – needs Dangerous Donald to be trounced. The Demon that is Donald must be squashed; his immorality rejected; his mendacity spurned; and his memory obliterated.
Sorry, I get carried away when talking about Orange Julius. But the fact remains that he must be beaten. Now we’ve given that job to Kamala. But which Kamala? The one who filled people’s heads with panic at the idea of her ascension, or the one who is now the Sudden Savior who will carry the forces of democracy and decency to victory.
I pray it’s the latter.
There are a lot of different options for your position on Kamala Harris right now … fierce opposition, apathy, tepid prayers, full-throated endorsement and every shade in between.
In my view, there are only two choices: Donald Trump or full-throated endorsement of Harris.
Get on board.
