Loser vs. Loser

Usually, in every contest there is someone to root for. Sometimes, you may be a big fan of one side or the other. Sometimes, there is one contestant you may hate. Even when you’re basically neutral, you can latch onto something that will help you care who wins and loses. For me, that’s usually a bet. But, what do you do when you despise both of the competitors? That’s my problem now in Trump v. Bolton.

In this corner, the super-heavyweight champion of loathsomeness, the ruler of all things vile, the Great Prevaricator, the Vulgar Villain, Donald J. Trump.

And, in the opposite corner, the chicken-hawk challenger, the deceitful diplomat, the perfidious publisher, Mr. John Bolton.

So now assume that you are ringside about to watch this battle of the bullshitters. Who do you root for? Actually, come to think of it, you don’t have to assume that. We actually are now ringside for the litigation between them. One side claims that no one should be able talk about anything he’s done wrong so he can perpetuate his fictional image. The other claims to know what was done wrong but refused to explain it when the country most needed it so he could personally cash in on it later.

Do you really want to see anyone come out of this tussle victorious? Sure, it would be nice to hear about all the ignorant, self-aggrandizing illegalities that our Dear Leader has done.  For that, we need Bolton to win.  But, is any of that really going to make a difference?  Don’t we already know that Orange Julius is a crooked moron? It won’t change his detractors’ minds any.  And it won’t change his supporters’ minds either.  They’ll just keep following his lead and label facts as lies.

And what if Trump wins? Again, what difference will it make? I wouldn’t be surprised if Bolton actually is exposing national security secrets among the many Trump insecurity secrets in his book.  He’s just the type.

So, let’s just all gather around the campfire and sing our lament to the tune of that truly American folk song:

Home home of the strange

Where the fear mongering selfish dopes play

Where for Trump nothing’s heard

If it’s a discouraging word

And John Bolton wants a new war each day

  1. Agreed. I was actually hoping that the courts would allow Trump to stop Bolton’s book; that way, we’ve already gotten the info but Bolton couldn’t cash in. Unfortunately, the judge didn’t call for my opinion.

  2. Bolton chose profits over patriotism. I listened to various interviews with him and found his explanations and reasoning to be lame and unconvincing. Shame on him. He should donate all the profits from the sales of his book to charity.

    1. Agreed. He’s just another of the den of thieves that Trump surrounds himself with. He may not even have he chance to donate his money. Court may force him to divest. Thanks again for reading my stuff.
