Why are the Democrats in Washington so reluctant to say that they hate Donald Trump. During their hearings, the ones on the Intelligence and Judiciary Committees were scrupulous to avoid saying any such thing. Nancy Pelosi even claimed that it was a violation of her religious convictions to say that. I would bet my house (don’t tell my wife) that if you woke any of them up at 3 in the morning and asked what they thought of Trump, the word most often used would be “hate.”
And why shouldn’t it be?
The dictionary definition of “hate” is “to dislike intensely.” Are these people really asking us to believe that they do not intensely dislike Donald Trump? Come on. Of course, they do. There is very good reason for them to. He is daily debasing the stature of his office and the country. It would be unpatriotic to not intensely dislike a person who is doing that.
One of Republican’s talking points is that they want to impeach Trump because they hate him and not because he did anything wrong. They are half right. Yes, they hate him, but they hate him precisely because he did so much wrong.
And why is hate the sole province of the President? This week he said Adam Schiff was sick and deranged. Why is it that they can’t say they hate the man who spews hate like that?
I suppose that the Democrats’ thinking is political. I suppose they don’t want to appear somehow unfair. To me, though, by doing what they are doing, they appear untruthful, and that’s even worse than unfair.
So, I’ll say it even if they won’t. I hate Donald Trump. I hope some of them will soon be honest about it and say the same thing.
